Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses Chiropractic in March 2011

At a recent Arnold Schwarzenegger Fitness Weekend convention from March 3rd - 6th, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio, the former governor promoted the importance of chiropractic, the close relationship between fitness health and chiropractic and how chiropractic has helped him and his family in the past. In the past, Arnold has been a champion for not only fitness, nutrition and health but also chiropractic which is what this symposium was about. International Chiropractic Association (ICA) was there to represent chiropractic including a small group of select chiropractors.
“We’ve got to let the people know that there is a necessity, it’s not even an option, it’s a necessity to have a chiropractor. As much as it is a necessity to have a dentist, if you have a dentist for the family, you should have your chiropractor for the family.” Best quote from Arnold
Governor Schwarzenegger commented on developments in health care reform and the need to include prevention. He observed, "If you don't have prevention as a big part of the health care reform, you have nothing, you have absolutely nothing!" Commenting on the importance of including incentives for healthy living and prevention in health care reform, he noted, "This is why I say that prevention is the answer". Linking the chiropractic profession to the benefits of health and prevention, he noted, "We know it (prevention) works. And we know that you (chiropractors) are in the right profession. Because you are really in a profession that saves people money, and it brings the health care costs down. This is what I love about your profession. You are the most incredible profession, you always help people." Source: International Chiropractors Association

Connecticut Board of Chiropractic Examiners Finds No Clear Association Between Neck Adjustments & Strokes

Neck Pain Task Force presented before the Connecticut Board of Chiropractic Examiners that "patients suffering from headache and neck pain are no more likely to suffer from a stroke following a visit to a chiropractor than they are after a visit to a family medical physician." The Neck Pain Task Force studied nine years worth of research. The Cennecticut board also concluded that the media "often sensationalized" and perpetuated the myth with chiropractic adjustments. Kerri Walsh endorses KT Tape; SpiderTech Another Pre-cut Tape Brand

Some patients mentioned a precut elastic tape but now I have found what they were talking about. I am still not sure what was the exact brand used in the Beijing summer olympics but it looks like a new brand of kinesiology tape, KT Tape, is being endorsed by Kerri Walsh. The earliest press release that I can find is in May and June 2009. Oct 24, 2009, Mary Sheddon of The Tamba Tribune reports that KT Tape helps with foot pains and shin splints. SpiderTech is another brand claimed to be the "original" starting in 1987. Kinesio Tex developed by Dr. Kenzo Kase around 1984 according to their website also claiming to be the original. My guess is that Nitto Denko is a company that had a elastic sports tape since the 80's along with Kinesio Tex but Dr. Kenzo Kase developed an actual taping technique. Kinesio Tex has had several books and seminars for years. I have yet to find any book or seminar from SpiderTech or KT Tape. The earliest press release or product for SpiderTech
