Arnold Schwarzenegger Endorses Chiropractic in March 2011

At a recent Arnold Schwarzenegger Fitness Weekend convention from March 3rd - 6th, 2011 in Columbus, Ohio, the former governor promoted the importance of chiropractic, the close relationship between fitness health and chiropractic and how chiropractic has helped him and his family in the past. In the past, Arnold has been a champion for not only fitness, nutrition and health but also chiropractic which is what this symposium was about. International Chiropractic Association (ICA) was there to represent chiropractic including a small group of select chiropractors.
“We’ve got to let the people know that there is a necessity, it’s not even an option, it’s a necessity to have a chiropractor. As much as it is a necessity to have a dentist, if you have a dentist for the family, you should have your chiropractor for the family.” Best quote from Arnold
Governor Schwarzenegger commented on developments in health care reform and the need to include prevention. He observed, "If you don't have prevention as a big part of the health care reform, you have nothing, you have absolutely nothing!" Commenting on the importance of including incentives for healthy living and prevention in health care reform, he noted, "This is why I say that prevention is the answer". Linking the chiropractic profession to the benefits of health and prevention, he noted, "We know it (prevention) works. And we know that you (chiropractors) are in the right profession. Because you are really in a profession that saves people money, and it brings the health care costs down. This is what I love about your profession. You are the most incredible profession, you always help people." Source: International Chiropractors Association

Chiropractor's perspective: "Queen of Snapchat," Katie May, dies from a stroke after chiropractic adjustment

Source: youcaring.com L.A. County Coroner recently ruled that model, Katie May, died as a result of a “neck manipulation by chiropractor" due to a brain infarction or stroke. It was deem an accident as result of a carotid artery blockage. Chiropractic adjustments to the upper cervical can move the vertebral artery so I am not sure how the carotid artery was affected. I am guessing the news articles are reporting the wrong artery being dissected. Ms. May fell during a photoshoot hurting her neck resulting in her seeking help from a LA chiropractor. She had more than one chiropractic adjustment before going to the hospital with symptoms of a stroke before dying. Is the fall to blame for the stroke or only the neck adjustment? Did they both contribute to the stoke?  The American Chiropractic Association (ACA) Provides the Following Statement in Response to Media Inquiries Regarding Katie May Our sympathy goes out to the family of Katie May. With respect to the saf

Kinesio Tape & Olympic Beach Volleyball

What is that black tattoo on Kerri Walsh's right shoulder? It is called Kinesio Tex Taping which is an elastic taping used in chiropractic, rehabilitation and sports medicine. Developed 25 years ago by Dr. Kenzo Kase, it is now getting recognition and being used by top athletes such as Lance Armstrong , Serena Williams , David Beckam , Robby Ginepri and Justine Henin . Kinesio Tape works by giving support like a flexible brace and facilitates weak muscles with neurological awareness or proprioception. Kerri Walsh had a recent rotator cuff surgery last November. NBC reported that she uses the black shoulder tape for better circulation and her shoulder pain. Harder to see with the beige Kinesio Taping, Martins Plavins used Kinesio Taping in the huge upset against the US team of Todd Rogers and Phil Dalhausser. Did Kinesio Tape give Walsh and Plavins an unfair advantage to both win? :) Maybe not, but it pleases me to know that I something I use to help my patients is trusted
